Have you considered/tried Golden Syrup? It is slimy and sticky though not sure how easy it would be to clean up. Also would seggest oobleck as suggested above (non-Newtonian fluid made of cornstarch and water)

One thing I forgot to mention is that once the timer elapses, the restraints do not release automatically, but rather I have to press the button to release myself, however if I press the button too early, instead of releasing, it adds some extra mins onto the timer!
