I would have sewn just 1 button, rotated 90 degrees compared to how you did it and on just 1 side. silicone is actually not a great lubricant for zippers. It tends to rub off too quickly. One of grandma's tricks works great though, just rub a pencil (graphite) over the zipper. Try sewing a button or something similar to the zipper where you want it to stop. this should keep it from going all the way up. Also try lubricating the zipper teeth with some thing like spray silicone. It might help you from further "stuck" spots. You might think of a last ditch back-up...
